Each day, for between one and two hours, I'm going to ride the London underground.
I'll be working with the city symbolically as art.
The built architecture of the city will represent our existing civilisation, and the cooled crust of how it has formed.
The underground below will represent the belly of the city, and the life and creativity inherent in each of us and in our civilisation that is trapped beneath the crust.
Each station will represent cracks in the crust where new life can bloom through.
As I journey through the underground, I'll follow life, listening to when to change stops, and when to get off and come up to the surface.
I'll then rise up to their surface symbolically as the creative life that is wanting to come through the cracks.
When I get to the surface I'll see what wants to be spoken, what wants to be shared. Perhaps a poem, a song, a dance for life.
I'll then step back onto the underground and continue until it feels like the journey is complete for this day.
Anyone is welcome to join me in this experiment. I believe each of us has an artist inside of us that’s here to express what it means to live in our world.
