Writing For Earth
“We urgently need language, stories, and writing that can stir and rouse change and shift, in how we relate with our world, and ourselves as part of it.’”
Writing that shifts perspective, galvanises action, and creates change.
Hi, my name’s Dom Bury, and what I’m interested more than anything, is how language shapes and creates the world we live in, and how we interact with it.
I’ve spent the last 15 years engaged in, supporting and stimulating causes, art and creative projects that I believe are actively supporting a better future, a future in which our culture and civilisation is more in sync with and connected with our world.
And what I believe that currently, a good deal of the language, speech and writing being used to engage the public in our world, is worn, scripted, and not meeting the needs of our times.
What I’m here for, is supporting this to shift, supporting causes, organisations and teams of people doing great work in the world to be able to inhabit a language that does their causes justice, and rouses and inspires the people they work with.
Less climate fatigue. More feeling of ourselves as active participants in change. Less worn narratives around sustainability goals. More depth of connection with what it means to be part of a society that eroding the foundations upon which we live and feeling actively inspired to do something about it.

SOME REVIEWS OF MY WORK
“‘I haven’t come across anything like this – the astounding poems in Dom Bury’s Rite of Passage writhe with raw visionary life, as if made of bone and fire. They terrify and hypnotise. They are chants of survival, incantations to bear us safely through climate upheaval and crisis. They draw our elemental selves out onto burning fields, and miraculously heal us. This is poetry as initiation, as Orphic oracle and rigorous truth telling.”
“Rite of Passage is a rite for our times, our earth, a series of quiet, sometimes mysterious, prayer-like unflinching poems that are a call for trust, collective love and to understanding ‘what it means to be human”
“‘An astonishing debut. The environment has never felt so urgent; the world, through Bury’s writing, has never felt so close at hand. Mythical and raw – a terrific book.’”
